After time on the water, the experience shifts to land for a haunted carriage ride through Charleston’s cobblestone streets and shadowy alleys. As the only haunted carriage tour in town, this ride takes you past graveyards, historic churches, and the notorious Provost Dungeon while your guide shares eerie tales of ghosts, pirates, and patriots who shaped—and still linger in—the Holy City. The combination of scenic harbor views and chilling ghost stories makes this Charleston, South Carolina experience a perfect mix of history, charm, and intrigue.

  • Carolina Belle: Wheelchair friendly with ramp access, though steepness varies with tides. Stairs are required to access the lower enclosed deck.
  • Carriage Tour: Wheelchair accessible via a ramp into the carriage; handicap restrooms available at the barn.

  • Children: Children are welcome. Ages 3 and under are free but must be ticketed.
  • Individuals with disabilities: Wheelchair access is available for both portions, with limitations (steep boarding ramp for the boat, small step into carriage). Service animals allowed.
  • Dietary restrictions: No food is included. Snacks and drinks can be purchased on the boat but dietary accommodations are not guaranteed.
  • Languages: Narration is in English only.
  • Pets: Pets are not permitted; only service animals are allowed.

  • A narrated haunted carriage tour through downtown Charleston, featuring ghost stories, haunted sites, and historical commentary.
  • Who will be present: Licensed captain and crew on the boat; licensed carriage guide and horse-drawn carriage driver on the land portion; fellow participants. Boat capacity is up to 300 passengers. Carriage capacity varies (smaller group).
  • Spectators: Only ticketed participants may join.
  • Photo/ video: Personal photography is encouraged.
  • Specific rules to follow: Smoking or vaping is not allowed on the vessel. Outside food and drinks are not permitted.
How to prepare?
  • Weather dependency:
  • Harbor Tour operates rain or shine, with enclosed and covered areas available.
  • Carriage Tour runs in light rain but may be canceled in severe weather or extreme heat.
  • Arrival: Arrive 20–30 minutes before Harbor Tour departure. Carriage ride time must be reserved separately by phone after booking.
  • Parking:
  • Harbor Tour: No on-site parking. Closest option is the SC Aquarium Garage (24 Calhoun St). Rideshare, pedicabs, and the CARTA DASH shuttle are recommended.
  • Carriage Tour: Metered and garage parking available near the barn at 14 Anson Street. Parkopedia is suggested for finding spots.
  • What to wear: Comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Dress in layers for cooler harbor temperatures. The carriage is covered but open-sided, so weather-appropriate attire is recommended.
  • What to bring: Valid ticket confirmation, cash/card for food and drinks on board, sunscreen, jacket in cooler months.
  • What’s not allowed: Smoking, vaping, outside food or drinks, and non-service animals.
  • Restrooms: Available on the boat and at the carriage barn.
Anything else I should know before going on this experience?
  • Harbor Tour and Carriage Tour meeting locations are about a 15-minute walk apart, making it convenient to do both in the same day.
  • The Carolina Belle is USCG-certified and carries all required safety equipment.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 15 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
