Any restrictions to participate?

  • Age: All age groups are welcome
  • Physical limitations: Participants need to be able to walk about 1.25 miles on the tour.

Who can you accommodate for?

  • Children: Children are welcome on the tour, however, please keep in mind that there is a lot of standing involved and children may not be as interested in historical facts. The tasting samples are designed to give participants an authentic taste of the cuisine, ranging from basic to somewhat exotic. There will be no substitutions available for children’s tastes. If your child has a true interest in cuisine and history, by all means, please bring them along. Note that the ticket price remains the same if the child will be taking part in tastings. Infants and children in strollers are welcome at no charge.
  • Individuals with disabilities: All locations on the tour are wheelchair accessible.
  • Dietary restrictions: The tour provider will do their best to accommodate special diets, but unfortunately they are not able to accommodate Vegan preferences. If you have a dietary restriction or allergy, please make a note at the time of booking. 
  • Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • What’s included:
    • Expert tour guide who will share the history of the neighborhood and background of many iconic locations
    • 5-6 stops with at least 4 tastings including Vietnamese specialties, authentic spices, pie, and more.

      

  • Who will be present: You will have a guide with you at all times as well as up to 12 total participants.
  • Spectators: No spectators are allowed, everyone must have a ticket.
  • Photo/ video: Photos are encouraged!

How to prepare?

  • Weather dependency: Rain or shine, the experience will be running.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive 10 minutes in advance
  • Parking
    • Parking lot at 5017 N. Winthrop $6 for 12 hrs thru ParkWhiz or SpotHero (recommended).
    • Free side street parking is usually available on Winnemac, Carmen or Winona streets just west of Broadway Avenue. Allow 15 minutes to find street parking.
    • Metered parking: only recommended with ParkChicago app, due to time limits.
    • Public transportation: CTA/Train: Red Line to Argyle stop.
  • What to wear: Comfortable clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather.
  • What to bring:
    • Your ID, a water bottle, and a jacket for unexpected weather. Keep in mind for springtime and early summer tours, it can be up to 20 degrees cooler near Lake Michigan where the tour is located.
    • An umbrella for those rainy days (tour provider will also provide ponchos)
    • Gratuity for your guide is greatly appreciated if you enjoy the tour. The suggested amount is $10-$15 per person.
  • Restrooms: There will be restroom stops along the tour.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
