🔄 Catch rotating exhibitions that bring something new to see on every visit

☕ Pause for lunch with a view at Cafe 5 or browse the Museum Store

SFMOMA ranks among the largest modern and contemporary art museums in the United States, and general admission opens the door to floor after floor of it. The collection spans artists from the Bay Area and around the world, from Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol to Wayne Thiebaud, Ruth Asawa, Frank Stella and Julie Mehretu. Floors 3 through 6 hold the newly reimagined Fisher Collection, the first complete transformation of these galleries since the museum's expansion in 2016, with fresh installations designed to invite personal reflection and connection.

Rotating exhibitions keep things changing throughout the year, so there's always something new to discover. Tickets are valid all day, which makes it easy to explore at a relaxed pace, take a break at Cafe 5, Steps Coffee or Jane on Third, then head back into the galleries. A free museum map in six languages, an audio guide and the Museum Store round out the visit. The entrance on Third Street sits just a few blocks from Montgomery Street BART and steps from Yerba Buena Gardens, perfect for pairing with a day in downtown San Francisco.
