Hawaii Flying

The Islands From the Air

Much of Hawaii is hard to reach on foot, from hidden waterfalls to remote valleys and active lava flows, which is exactly why flying is so popular here. This collection gathers Hawaii helicopter tours and scenic airplane flights across Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island, and you can compare them with flying experiences in other states. Whether the recipient lives on the islands or has a trip booked, it is one of the most memorable things to do in Hawaii.

Helicopters, Planes and Island Hopping

On Oahu, flights leave from Honolulu to circle Diamond Head, Waikiki and the Pali coast, with doors-off options for photographers and sunset departures for romance. Kauai flights reveal the Na Pali Coast and Waimea Canyon, while Big Island tours head over volcanoes and waterfalls along the Kohala Coast. Full-day adventures even fly from Oahu to another island for a guided tour on the ground. Would-be pilots can try an intro lesson on Oahu, and special proposal flights include a private landing. Our Hawaii helicopter tours and rides page has more options by island. New routes are added from time to time, so the lineup keeps evolving.

Romance at Altitude

A sunset flight over Waikiki makes a breathtaking anniversary gift, and an island-hopping adventure is one of the most original wedding gifts for a honeymoon. It is a birthday they will never forget as well. Choose an instant e-voucher, or a printed gift box if you prefer.

Should I book a doors-off flight?

Doors-off flights are ideal for photographers who want clear shots without window glare. They can be breezy, so bring a light layer and secure loose items.

How far ahead should I book a flight in Hawaii?

Book a couple of weeks ahead in peak seasons such as winter and summer, as sunset and island-hopping departures fill up fastest.
