In this forging-intensive 2-day class, participants will learn how to reshape a ball-peen hammer into their own unique hatchet. The class covers essential forging techniques, heat treating, and hafting, providing a comprehensive introduction to the art of forging. With prior forging experience recommended but not required, this class is perfect for beginners eager to explore the craft under expert guidance.

• Age: 15+, but 18+ is recommended
• Experience level: Prior forging experience recommended but not required.

Who can you accommodate for?

• Children: All children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
• Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Duration: Two 4-hour classes
• What’s included: Forging class by a professional instructor, as well as all materials and equipment.
• Who will be present: You will have an instructor with you at all times as well as up to 4 total students.
• Spectators: Parents with children under 18 years old are required to be present. Other spectators are not allowed.
• Photo/ video: Photos and video are allowed when not forging.

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: This is an indoor experience.
• Arrival: Plan to arrive 10 minutes in advance.
• Parking: There are paid parking lots available nearby.
• What to wear: Only wear natural fiber clothing, no synthetics or blends. Jeans and leather shoes are required. It’s recommended to bring a T-shirt and a long sleeve shirt. Make sure your pant cuffs go over the tops of your shoes, and there are no holes in any of your clothing. Wear only clothing that you can part with, for it may be destroyed. You MUST wear a mask to and from the shop - ideally a respirator. As soon as you arrive please sanitize or wash your hands - we will then review other safety protocols in person.
• What to bring:
  • If you have your own respirator please bring it, otherwise you will be supplied with one
  • Gratuity for your instructor is greatly appreciated if you enjoy the experience.
• Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: Restrooms are available onsite, but there are no lockers or changing rooms.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

• Safety is always number one, and communication is key. You’re sharing space with other blacksmiths wielding hot iron so always make others aware of your intentions, and pay attention to your surroundings.
• If you are not being safe teachers are permitted to immediately send you home for the rest of the day. If you continue to pose a risk to yourself or others you may be removed from the class.
• If you come to class intoxicated the teacher has the right to kick you out of the class and ban you from the school if they deem it necessary. 
• If you break or damage equipment you may be held responsible for fixing or replacing that piece of equipment, or covering the cost of having a service do so.
• Vaccination is REQUIRED for all classes, no exceptions. If you do not feel well play it safe and stay home!
• All participants must sign a waiver prior to the class.

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 14 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 48 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 48 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
