Choosing a perfume off a shelf is one thing. Shaping one around your own taste is something else entirely. This experience starts with a sampling of core fragrances, each created with partner perfumers, so your recipient can zero in on the foundation they love most before the fun of personalizing begins.

From there, it's a guided customization rather than a chemistry lesson, with a Scentologist on hand to tweak and refine the scent until it feels completely theirs. Once it's perfected, they'll label and bottle it and carry it out the door. It makes a personal souvenir from a day downtown in New York City and a gift they'll be reminded of every time they wear it.

Any restrictions to participate?

• Age: All age groups are welcome.
• Health limitations: Some blends may contain common allergens such as cinnamon or hazelnut. Guests with sensitive skin are advised to test a small amount on the inner arm first, and pregnant guests should consult a doctor beforehand.
• Experience level: All levels are welcome. No prior fragrance experience is needed.

Who can you accommodate for?

• Children: All participants must pay to participate, children included.
• Individuals with disabilities: All studios have wheelchair-accessible entrances, and service animals are allowed. Restroom accessibility varies by location.
• Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Duration: Approximately 30 minutes for smaller parties. Larger groups may take up to 1 hour.
• What's included: A guided scent customization with a Scentologist, sampling of core fragrances, and a 50ml full-size custom fragrance bottled fresh on site and labeled to take home.
• Who will be present: A Scentologist will guide you throughout, and other guests may be in the studio at the same time.
• Photo/video: Photos and video are welcome; flash photography is not permitted.
• Specific rules to follow: Food and drinks other than water are not permitted in the studio, as they compete with the scents being tested.

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: This is an indoor experience.
• Arrival: Plan to arrive on time. There is a 15 minute grace period, and guests arriving later than that are treated as walk-ins and may have a short wait.
• Parking: Street parking and nearby garages are available. Options vary by location.
• Restrooms/lockers/changing rooms: Restroom access varies by location.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

• Custom scents are made as an Eau de Parfum, which typically lasts 6 to 10 hours on skin.
• Each blend is saved, so it can be reordered later.

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 14 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for any other experience in our marketplace, free of charge, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
