Any restrictions to participate?

  • Age: All age groups are welcome.
  • Physical limitations: Need to be able to walk approximately 1 mile on the tour.

 

Who can you accommodate for?

  • Children: All participants must pay to participate, children included.
  • Individuals with disabilities: The Real Pirates Salem Museum and tour route are wheelchair accessible and service animals are allowed.
  • Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

  • Duration: 1.5 hours. The tour typically lasts about 1.5 hours, however you may stay and explore the museum at your leisure once the tour is complete.
  • What’s included: 
    • General admission to the museum
    • Personal guided tour of the museum with a knowledgeable pirate, who will give you the “ins and outs” of the museum – including facts that might otherwise pass you by.
    • Guided tour of Salem Maritime National Historic Site
  • Who will be present: Your tour guide and up to 10 participants per tour group. There will be other patrons exploring the museum while the tour is taking place. 
  • Spectators: No spectators are allowed, everyone must have a reservation.
  • Photo/ video: You may take your own photos while exploring the museum and enjoying the walking tour, however you cannot take photos of the treasure items in the exhibit.
  • Specific rules to follow: No photos of the treasure displays or outside food and drinks while exploring the museum.

How to prepare?

  • Weather dependency: In the event of inclement weather Real Pirates Salem will contact you about a tour cancellation. If you have any questions about weather conditions, please contact the museum directly.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time.
  • Parking: Parking is available at the museum.
  • What to wear: Comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for weather conditions. 
  • What to bring:
    • No outside food or drinks are allowed in the museum, however packaged drinks and snacks are available for purchase.
  • Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the museum.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked.
