  • Health limitations: Visitors should be comfortable traveling by ferry and walking throughout Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Those prone to motion sickness should plan accordingly.

Who can you accommodate for?

  • Children: Children aged three and under can ride the ferry for free and do not require a ticket or reservation.
  • Individuals with disabilities: Ferries and both Liberty Island and Ellis Island are wheelchair accessible. Accessible restrooms and pathways are available.
    • The grounds of Liberty Island are wheelchair accessible. If you have a reservation to enter the monument, wheelchair access is available to the museum and the exterior of Fort Wood. There’s also a wheelchair-accessible lift from the main pedestal elevator stop up to the top of the pedestal, where you can see the Statue’s fascinating inner structure. However, please note that the outdoor observation deck and balcony are not wheelchair accessible. On Ellis Island, an elevator operates between the first floor of the museum and the Statue of Liberty Pedestal, helping visitors get around comfortably.
  • Languages: Audio guides are available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Russian.
