🌊 Spend an hour at one of DC's most distinctive waterfront venues in the Navy Yard neighborhood

Most cities have wine bars. Washington DC has something better: District Winery, a fully operational, craft urban winery producing its own wines right on the Anacostia waterfront at 385 Water Street SE. A wine tasting experience here is not just a few glasses and a printed menu, it is a genuine behind-the-scenes look at how wine is actually made, led by knowledgeable guides in a setting that manages to feel both genuinely educational and completely relaxed at the same time. Tours run Thursday through Sunday and last approximately one hour, covering the full winemaking process, from fermentation through cellar aging and blending, all while tasting through a curated selection of five house-made wines.

The range of experiences on offer makes this a gift that can be tailored to almost anyone. The standard guided tasting walks through five signature vintages alongside an introduction to winemaking. Saturday Sips is a lively, social version built for groups. Wine and Design Sundays pair a guided tasting with a rotating creative activity. Urban Winery After Dark is an after-hours evening in the production space with an insider's perspective on how each wine was made.
