Departing from the vibrant Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, this round-trip adventure takes you through the majestic redwoods, offering breathtaking views and a taste of history. Your journey begins with a scenic ride through an 1875 tunnel and across a classic 1909 steel truss bridge, winding along the picturesque San Lorenzo River Gorge and through the iconic Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

Upon arriving in Felton, you'll step into the past at the recreated 1880s logging camp of Roaring Camp. Here, you have an hour to explore — try your hand at gold panning, watch a blacksmith at work, or meet the Town Marshal. Don't forget to grab a tasty burger from Georgie's Cookhouse before heading back down the mountain. This family-friendly experience offers a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and fun, making it a perfect day out for all ages.

• Children: Infants under 2 years old may ride for free. No more than two children under the age of 2 may ride free per paid adult.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Duration: Approximately 3 hours
• What’s included: Round-trip train ride from Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to Felton, one-hour layover in Felton
• Who will be present: A conductor and train staff will be present. The experience may include other participants, as it is a public train ride.
• Spectators: No spectators are allowed; everyone must have a ticket/reservation.
• Photo/ video: Guests are encouraged to take their own photos. Commercial use of photos and videos requires consent from Roaring Camp management.
• Specific rules to follow: Follow conductor's instructions, adhere to social distancing protocols, and comply with health and safety signage. Masks are recommended while on board the train.

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: The experience runs rain or shine.
• Arrival: Plan to arrive 45 minutes in advance.
• Parking: Available in the main Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk parking lot across from Neptune's Kingdom or in the River Lot.
• What to wear: A light jacket is recommended.
• What to bring: A digital or paper copy of your confirmation email. Personal belongings are allowed; however, be mindful of space.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

• Tickets are non-transferable, and no rainchecks or refunds will be provided. If you miss your departure, accommodation on another train may not be possible. Schedules are subject to change if necessary.

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 14 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.
