Full description

Prepare for the culinary highlight of the year with a Lobster and Beer Sail in New York City – a match made in gastronomic heaven right on the water.

Indulge in the delectable combo of a lobster roll and a variety of popular beers, ensuring the most flavorful ninety minutes afloat. Don't pass up this sensational duet of classic summer fare and refreshing brews, all enjoyed aboard New York's exclusive floating historic landmark.

Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a first-timer, immerse yourself in the thrill of hoisting a sail or taking the helm of the historic Clipper City. Feel the massive, heroic boat beneath you, as a crew of six skillfully handles the sails, encouraging your active participation. Prefer to sit back and enjoy the ride? No problem – the adventure caters to every type of seeker, ensuring an epic experience for all.

With a remarkable length of 158 feet and masts soaring to 120 feet, the Clipper City comfortably accommodates 149 people, making it the largest passenger sailboat in the United States. Marvel at sails that dwarf houses as they reach towards the sky. The boat features waist-high railings, a spacious open deck (100 feet x 30 feet) with benches, hatches, and a raised quarter deck where the captain takes the helm. Throughout the journey, 5,000 feet of sail will be unfurled, offering a truly majestic sight.

Originally built as a lumber schooner just before the Civil War, the Clipper City has a rich history. Meticulously reconstructed from the original plans borrowed from the Smithsonian Institution, the ship has recently undergone refurbishment, preserving its historic charm. As you sail, you'll connect with the past while enjoying the present, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Practical information

Any restrictions to participate?

Who can you accommodate for?

  • Children: This is not an experience for children.
  • Individuals with disabilities: The ship, although built prior to the A.D.A., is wheelchair accessible to 80% of the public deck space. Boarding the vessel usually requires assistance from a crew member as wakes from ferry boats and tidal change can create challenging conditions. There is a large main deck with restrooms on the same level. Bathrooms cannot be entered whilst in a wheelchair, but you may transfer from chair to bathroom as there are grab bars inside. Unfortunately, the ship cannot accommodate larger electric scooters and wheelchairs.
  • Pets: Small dogs who are happy to sit on leash and on laps are welcome on board, with advance notice. Please make a note at the time of booking if you would like to bring your dog.

What to expect on the day of the experience?
