Set against the backdrop of Charleston, South Carolina’s historic harbor, the Charleston Sunset Sail is a chance to slow down and enjoy the city from an entirely new perspective. Step aboard the Schooner Pride, an 84-foot, three-mast tall ship, and watch as the Holy City glows under a kaleidoscope of sunset colors. With sails catching the evening breeze, this two-hour journey offers views of Charleston’s skyline, centuries-old church steeples, and iconic landmarks like Fort Sumter and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge—all from the quiet beauty of the water.

Unlike traditional narrated tours, this experience keeps things relaxed and personal. The crew is always happy to answer questions, but guests are encouraged to simply soak in the scenery or even lend a hand with raising the sails. Dolphins and pelicans are frequent companions as the ship glides through the harbor, making each trip feel a little different from the last. With the wind as your guide, this sunset sail combines history, nature, and pure tranquility—an unforgettable way to experience Charleston’s charm.

Any restrictions to participate?

• Age: All ages are welcome; all children require a ticket.
• Health limitations: Guests prone to motion sickness may want to take precautions, although seasickness is uncommon.
• Physical limitations: The vessel is not wheelchair accessible. Boarding requires crossing a gangplank and using stairs. Restroom is located below deck, also accessible only by stairs.

Who can you accommodate for?

• Children: All participants, including children, must purchase a ticket.
• Individuals with disabilities: Not wheelchair accessible. Limited mobility guests must be able to navigate stairs and a gangplank.
• Dietary restrictions: Guests may bring their own snacks or picnic, but no food is provided on board. Beverages must be purchased on board.
• Languages: Sail is conducted in English. Crew provides informal guidance and can answer questions.
• Pets: Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted. Only service animals are allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Duration: Approximately 2 hours.
• What’s included: Two-hour sunset sail aboard the Schooner Pride with views of Fort Sumter, Castle Pinckney, USS Yorktown, Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, Charleston’s historic Battery, and the skyline at sunset. Frequent wildlife sightings including dolphins and pelicans. Drinks (soda, water, beer, wine) available for purchase.
• Who will be present: Licensed captain, experienced crew, and up to 49 passengers. Crew is available to assist and answer questions. Guests may also help raise sails if desired.
• Spectators: Only ticketed passengers may board.
• Photo/ video: Photography is encouraged.
• Specific rules to follow: No outside drinks, no smoking or vaping, and coolers are not permitted.

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: Sails operate in most weather conditions, including light rain. Severe weather may result in cancellation and rescheduling or credit.
• Arrival: Check in at Aquarium Wharf, 360 Concord Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure; the boat leaves on time.
• Parking: Parking is available at nearby garages including SC Aquarium Garage. Rideshare and public transit are also recommended.
• What to wear: Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Layers or a light jacket recommended for cooler evenings. Soft-soled shoes are recommended. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are encouraged.
• What to bring: Snacks or picnic if desired (no coolers). Camera, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
• Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: One restroom (“marine head”) available below deck; no lockers or changing rooms. Limited space below deck for storing small items.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

• Departure times vary depending on the sunset time of year.
• The Schooner Pride is a U.S. Coast Guard–certified vessel.

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 14 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
