The sail has no fixed route, letting the wind guide the journey past sights like Fort Sumter, the Battery, Patriots Point, and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Keep your eyes on the water too—dolphins often race alongside the bow, and pelicans can be spotted diving for fish nearby.

This 90-minute experience in Charleston, South Carolina, blends history, nature, and the simple thrill of being on the water. Guests can pitch in and help raise the sails or just sit back and soak up the views. With the skyline, historic forts, and centuries of maritime history surrounding you, every moment feels like a step back in time. Refreshments are available for purchase on board, and light snacks are welcome to bring along. By the time the ship returns to Aquarium Wharf, you’ll feel recharged, refreshed, and more connected to the city’s rich harbor heritage.

Any restrictions to participate?

• Age: All ages are welcome, but every passenger — including infants — must have a purchased ticket.
• Health limitations: Guests prone to seasickness may want to take precautions, although seasickness is uncommon.
• Physical limitations: The vessel is not wheelchair accessible. Boarding requires crossing a gangplank and using stairs. The restroom is located below deck and requires negotiating stairs.

Who can you accommodate for?

• Children: All participants, including infants, must purchase a ticket as they count toward Coast Guard capacity.
• Individuals with disabilities: Not wheelchair accessible. Guests with limited mobility should be aware of stairs and gangplank access.
• Dietary restrictions: Guests may bring their own snacks, but food is not provided. Drinks must be purchased on board.
• Languages: Sail is conducted in English. Crew can answer questions informally.
• Pets: Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted. Only bona fide service animals are allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Who will be present: Licensed captain, experienced crew, and up to 49 passengers.
• Spectators: Only ticketed passengers may board.
• Photo/ video: Photography is encouraged.
• Specific rules to follow: No outside beverages or coolers, no smoking or vaping, and pets are not allowed (except service animals).

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: Sails run rain or shine in light to moderate weather. Severe conditions may result in cancellation, with rescheduling or credit offered.
• Arrival: Check in at Aquarium Wharf, 360 Concord Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure; the boat leaves promptly.
• Parking: Parking available at nearby garages such as SC Aquarium Garage. Rideshare services are also recommended.
• What to wear: Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Layers recommended as it can be 5–10 degrees cooler on the water. Soft-soled shoes recommended (bare feet not allowed). Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen encouraged.
• What to bring: Snacks if desired, camera, sunglasses, sunscreen.
• Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: One restroom (“marine head”) available below deck. No lockers or changing rooms. Limited space below deck for storing small items.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

• The Schooner Pride is a U.S. Coast Guard–certified vessel.
• The sail is not narrated, though crew can point out landmarks and answer questions.
• Dolphins are frequently spotted, but sightings are not guaranteed.

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 14 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
