Starting from the convenient location at 134B Hamakua Dr., Kailua, pick up your gear and hit the beach for a day filled with scenic paddling and island exploration.

The route to Popoia Island is famed for its protected ocean waters, making it perfect for beginners or those looking for a relaxed paddle. You'll glide over vibrant coral reefs and might even spot some of the local marine life like sea turtles and colorful fish. Land on Popoia Island, known for its status as a bird sanctuary and soak in the panoramic views of Windward Oahu's coastline. Remember, kayaking permits are required and can allow landing on additional islets, so planning ahead is advised to secure your spot on this popular adventure.

Any restrictions to participate?

Age: All age groups are welcome, though young children should be able to manage a mild kayaking activity.
Experience level: Suitable for all levels, but basic swimming skills and comfort in the water are necessary.

Who can you accommodate for?

Children: Children under 12 years old should be accompanied by an adult. All participants must pay to participate.
Individuals with disabilities: The physical nature of kayaking and snorkeling might not be suitable for individuals with certain mobility disabilities.
Pets: Sorry, no pets allowed on the kayak.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

Duration: Full day rental from the time of pickup until return.
What’s included: Kayak rental, life vests, seat backs, paddles, special foam pads and straps for car transport, a 20L dry bag for personal belongings, and State Wildlife Permits if needed.
Who will be present: Initial setup and safety briefing by the staff; the kayaking and snorkeling journey is self-guided.
Photo/ video: You are encouraged to bring your own waterproof camera or phone to capture your experience.
Specific rules to follow: Respect wildlife and natural habitats, avoid touching coral reefs, pack out all trash, and follow all safety guidelines provided during the briefing.

How to prepare?

Weather dependency: The experience is weather-dependent; ideal conditions are calm waters, typically in the morning.
Arrival: Please arrive at the meeting location (134B Hamakua Dr., Kailua, HI, 96734) 15 minutes before your scheduled start time for equipment setup and briefing.
Parking: Available at the meeting location; you will transport the kayak to Kailua Beach using your vehicle.
What to wear: Swimsuit, water shoes for additional protection while hiking on the island, and reef-safe sunscreen.
What to bring:
- Essential: Water, snacks, sun visor, sunglasses, and any necessary personal medications.
- What’s allowed: Snorkeling gear if you wish to explore underwater.
- What’s not allowed: Leave valuables at home rather than in your vehicle to prevent theft.

Anything else I should know before going on this experience?

Ensure to familiarize yourself with the kayak handling and snorkeling basics if you are less experienced. Also, be mindful of the local laws regarding wildlife and environmental protection, especially around the coral reefs and bird sanctuaries.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 48 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 48 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
