Full description

Discover the fundamentals of kayaking swiftly at the Hudson River Park, and thereafter set off on an expedition guided by an expert along the magnificent Hudson River. Commencing at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum offers optimal vistas, as we navigate the waters to witness breathtaking sights including The Edge, Hudson Yards, One Times Square, and Central Park Tower. On clear days, a panoramic view of the entire west side of Manhattan awaits. During the tour, we pause at various points of interest to delve into the rich history of New York City and marvel at its architectural marvels. The pace of the excursion caters to all, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience in our beginner-friendly, stable, and comfortable kayaks.

  • Age: 12+ (children 12-14 must ride double kayak with an adult)
  • Weight: 225lb per person
    What to expect on the day of the experience?
  • Duration: 1h30 (45 minute lesson and 45 minutes on the water)
  • What’s included: All gear, and guided tour.
  • Who will be present: you will have a guide as well as additional guests.
  • Photo/ video: It is not recommended to take photos during the tour as there is an increased chance of water damage to phones and cameras.
  • Specific rules to follow: Your guide will provide you with all rules the day of the tour.
    How to prepare?
  • Weather dependency: The partner will email you at least 2 hours before the activity to cancel due to rain, wind, storms. Light rain is ok, but won’t go in uncomfortable conditions. if person arrives and doesn’t feel safe, they’ll be able to reschedule.
  • Arrival: plan to arrive 15 minutes in advance
  • Parking: The Google maps address is 555 12th Ave. New York, NY 10019. We are at the Pier 84 in the Hudson River Park. This is in Midtown Manhattan near West 43rd St and 12th Ave. After you cross 12th Ave, look toward the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier. Walk out onto Pier 84 and go beyond the dog park. You will see the boathouse halfway out on Pier 84.
    To get here:
    (1) Citibike on the Hudson Greenway to the Ferry Terminal at West 40th St and 12th Avenue, dock the bike, then walk 5 minutes north.
    (2) Ride your own bike here and leave it inside on the boathouse racks.
    (3) Drive to West 43rd Street and 12th Avenue and get dropped off.
    (4) Walk northwest from the Times Square or Hudson Yards subways.
  • What to wear: good walking shoes (remove if not relevant)
  • What to bring:
    • Water-friendly clothing, e.g. swimsuit, spandex, synthetic, Dri-Fit. No cotton or jeans because they get heavy when wet!
    • Your seat may get soaked so bring a change of your bottoms
    • A standard gym lock for the lockers. Locks will not be lended.
    • Water-friendly soles and not flip flops
    • Waterproof case or Ziploc bag for your phone
    • Sunscreen and sun hat
    • Reusable water bottle
  • Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: Lockers and changing rooms are available.
    Anything else I should know before going on this experience? 
  • Do we need to know how to swim? Swimming is not needed for kayaking or paddle boarding. To stay safe, wear a life jacket at all times and never exceed the weight limit per person.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 72 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 72 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
