This specialty focaccia, unlike its yeast-based cousins, features a simple yet delicious blend of crescenza cheese sandwiched between thin layers of dough, skipping the yeast and the need for lengthy rising times.

This makes it perfect for our two-hour course or for a quick baking session at home. The recipe for Focaccia di Recco dates back to the times of Saracen invasions, born out of necessity and crafted by Ligurians using the most accessible local ingredients: olive oil, flour, and cheese. In this class, we honor its storied past by using only the finest "00" flour and extra virgin olive oil. As an added treat, you'll learn how to make fresh ricotta cheese from scratch, enhancing your Focaccia with a richer, more layered cheese flavor. The ultimate reward comes when you pull your creation out of the oven, ready to savor the warm, cheesy goodness in a true celebration of Ligurian culinary tradition.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

  • Duration: This class is approximately 2 hours long.
  • What’s included: All instruction, equipment and ingredients needed
  • Who will be present: You will have a teacher with you at all times; also, other guests may be joining (from 8 to 26 people). You will be working in groups of 2 to 4 people.
  • Spectators: Everyone must have a ticket/reservations.
  • Photo/ video: Photography is allowed and encouraged.

How to prepare?

  • Weather dependency: This experience is indoors.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive 15 minutes in advance.
  • Parking: You can park at the experience location.
  • What to wear: We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. Please dress in clothing you won't mind getting dirty.
  • What to bring: Outside drinks are not allowed and drinks are NOT included in the ticket price. Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar. 
  • Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: There are restrooms at the experience location.

What should I expect on the day of the class?

Arrive a few minutes early to check in with the chef instructor using the ticket holder’s name. No need to bring a printed confirmation. The class will typically start with an introduction and a brief overview of the recipes you'll be preparing. Ingredients and cooking stations will be provided, and the chef will guide you through each step. After cooking, you'll enjoy the delicious meal you've created.

Cooking classes are designed to be a social and interactive experience. Working in groups encourages collaboration, allows for sharing of tips and techniques, and enhances the fun of the learning process. It's also a great way to meet new people who share your interests.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly.
