This group surf lesson gives beginners the perfect balance of guidance, safety, and fun in the water. With a small instructor-to-student ratio, you’ll get personalized coaching on everything from paddling and ocean awareness to wave judgment and mastering the pop-up. The lesson takes place at Thalia Street Beach, known for its gentle, beginner-friendly waves that make it easier to get up and riding.

Over the course of 90 minutes, you’ll gain confidence with hands-on instruction, spend plenty of time practicing in the surf, and experience the thrill of standing up on a wave for the first time. The location couldn’t be more convenient—just steps from the shoreline, so no long walks with heavy boards are required. Any restrictions to participate?

• Age: Guests must be at least 8 years old
• Health limitations: Participants must be able to swim and feel comfortable in the ocean. Not suitable for individuals with conditions that prevent safe participation in water activities.
• Physical limitations: Must be able to paddle, balance, and pop up on the surfboard.
• Experience level: Beginners welcome. No prior surfing experience required.

Who can you accommodate for?

• Children: Children ages 8+ may join. Younger children may be considered for group lessons with prior approval.
• Individuals with disabilities: Participation depends on ability to swim and safely surf.
• Pets: Pets are not allowed.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

• Duration: 1.5 hours.
• What’s included: Surfboard, wetsuit, bottled water, and guided surf instruction.
• Who will be present: Professional surf instructors with a maximum ratio of 3 students per instructor. Group lessons may include other participants.
• Spectators: Friends and family can watch from the beach.
• Photo/ video: Guests are welcome to take their own photos and videos.
• Specific rules to follow: Participants must follow the instructions of surf instructors for safety.

How to prepare?

• Weather dependency: Lessons run rain or shine, depending on surf and safety conditions.
• Arrival: Plan to arrive 30 minutes before lesson time to allow for parking and check-in.
• Parking: Metered parking available nearby at Cleo and Saint Ann’s streets, or free residential parking a short walk uphill.
• What to wear: Bathing suit under wetsuit.

• Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms: Private changing areas available at the surf shack. Public bathrooms located nearby at a restaurant.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
