Set out from Friday Harbor as the evening begins, with every detail taken care of from top-notch kayaking gear to professional guidance ensuring a safe and enriching experience. After a comprehensive on-beach training session ensuring you're comfortable and ready to navigate the waters, embark on a journey covering 2 to 4 miles of the island’s most scenic coastal areas. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife—seals, eagles, and, if you’re lucky, the resident killer whales. This 3-hour tour wraps up back at Friday Harbor around 8pm, giving you plenty of time to catch a ferry off the island, or simply linger in the afterglow of a perfect sunset paddle. Don’t forget to pack light beachwear and protection for cooler, breezy evenings as the adventure is as real as the chill of the ocean air!

What to expect on the day of the experience?

Duration: The experience lasts approximately 3 hours, from 5pm to 8pm.
What’s included: Kayak and safety equipment, transportation to and from the launch site, and guided instruction by trained biologist/naturalist guides.
Who will be present: Each tour is conducted by professional guides with a group of participants. Group sizes can vary.
Spectators: Spectators are not allowed; all participants must be registered.
Photo/video: Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras to capture the scenic views and wildlife.

How to prepare?

Weather dependency: The tour is conducted rain or shine, and will only be cancelled or postponed in severe weather conditions.
Arrival: Participants are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time to allow for check-in and briefing.
Parking: Limited parking available near the meeting point; it is recommended to use the designated areas and follow local parking regulations.
What to wear: Suitable kayaking attire recommended, such as waterproof clothing and comfortable shoes for paddling. It is also advisable to wear layers to adapt to changing weather conditions.
What to bring:
- Essential items such as water, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
- Personal items should be minimal and packed in waterproof bags.
- Lunch or snacks as needed.
Restrooms/lockers/changing rooms: Facilities may be limited; please plan accordingly and use facilities at the harbor before departure.

Ensure you have completed all required forms and understand the safety instructions provided by the guides.
It is highly recommended to book ferry reservations in advance if traveling to San Juan Island by ferry, especially during peak seasons.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 30 days before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 30 days in advance means losing the value of your experience.
